Lagos State Government has announced plans to commence repair works on Oke-Afa/Egbe Bridge in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area from April 17 to April 28, saying traffic will be restricted during the period.
Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, who announced the planned closure yesterday, explained that during the maintenance work the bridge would not be closed to traffic, but that vehicular movement would only be restricted to one carriage way in alternate sessions.
He said: “Traffic re-routing will also be carried out to facilitate seamless flow of traffic. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid delays, watch out for traffic diversion signs and obey traffic rules and regulations.”
While regretting any inconvenience the maintenance work might cause road users, the government directed all relevant agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.
“Members of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA; Nigeria Police; Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC; Neigbourhood Watchers; Special Traffic Marshals and other relevant security agencies will be on ground to assist in traffic management to ensure seamless traffic flow.”
